Martina Navrátilová

Martina Navrátilová

(*1956) Czech-American tennis player Martina Navrátilová was selected by Tennis magazine as "the greatest singles, doubles and mixed doubles player who's ever lived". Apart from the many tournaments she won and the many records she still holds, she changed the women’s tennis game forever. One of her main rivals Chris Evert said: “Martina revolutionised the game by her superb athleticism and aggressiveness... She brought athleticism to a whole new level with her training techniques.” Apart from her merits as an athlete, Navrátilová has been a strong human rights activist, especially for LGBT+ rights, having come out of the closet at the height of her career.
