Isabella Blow

Isabella Blow

(1958-2007) “My style icon is anyone who makes a bloody effort”, British fashion director and magazine editor Isabella Blow once said. But if there was anyone who made a bloody effort, it was her. With Blow though, eccentricity wasn’t a gimmick, but merely the natural consequence of her innate sense of style and understanding in which direction fashion was going. By following her instincts, she was the one who for instance discovered Alexander McQueen and became hat designer Philip Treacy’s muse. At the still tender age of 48, Blow stepped out of this world. As Vanity Fair commemorated: “In the end, it seemed, Isabella Blow loved fashion more than the fashion world loved her back.” But Treacy said: “There was nothing tragic about Isabella. She was the life of the party.”
